Jodhpur: La ville bleue d'Inde

Jodhpur est une ville blanche et bleue bâtie au pied d'une forteresse qui est sans doute la plus magnifique et la plus imposante d'Inde. Le Mehrangarh (tel est son nom et cela signifie "Fort en Majesté") a été édifié au quinzième siècle comme un véritable nid d'aigle. Aujourd'hui on peut voir dans quel luxe y a vécut le maharajah. Les cours intérieures arborent des façades sculptées impressionnantes et le panorama est exceptionnel. On peut admirer la ville de Jodhpur avec ses nombreuses maisons peintes en bleu. A l'origine cette couleur était réservée aux propriétaires de la caste supérieure: les brahmanes. Mais aujourd'hui cette exclusivité n'existe plus.

It's great to see pictures of Jodhpur again! I particularly loved this city during my trip through Rajasthan spring 2006. The Mehrangarh fort is really marvellous. Of all those forts in Rajasthan this surely is one of the most splendid pearls. A special place in Jodhpur is also the Sadar Bazar with the bell tower. From the roof terraces beside the bazar you have a beautiful view of the market on the one side and of the fort on the other. And that all with the refressing company of mr. Kingfisher...
Great internet diary by the way. I think I am a bit jealous; you traveling for so long all over the world!!!

Hey Isa and Dave ... I can now officially confirm that I feel very very mad with myself for not being in India to travel a bit with you. Seeing these pictures of Jodhpur make me very homesick. It's great that you put the pictures there but heartbreaking for me to look at ! Anyway, enjoy your time there and enjoy Goa. It's a very laid back and relaxed place ... try to go to the beaches in the South as they are far quieter than the beaches in the North. Try to see as much of Old Goa as you can, especially the St. Francis Basillica.
